The Cabin Dubai’s Intervention Programme to Prevent Youth Addiction
The Early Intervention Programme is specifically designed for young people (ages 13-19) who are in danger due to experimentation, use or abuse of drugs or alcohol. While many young people try drinking or illicit chemicals as part of the process of growing up, for some there may be serious consequences and it can lead to dependency and addiction.
The Early Intervention Programme consists of evaluation, education and teaching of coping strategies and alternative behaviours. Early intervention is designed for young people who are not yet chemically dependent, but who are acting in ways that are concerning to parents, guardians or teachers.
In our Early Intervention Programme, the client is educated as to how the chemicals they are using can affect them and the dangers they are posing to themselves. They are also taught how to avoid temptation, peer pressure and triggers that lead to drug and alcohol use. To ensure that their new lifestyle sticks, clients are taught how to discover and explore alternative hobbies and behaviours to replace the need for mood altering chemicals.
Early intervention is generally done in a one-on-one counselling setting and consists of three to five sessions over a two- to three-week period. Sessions are scheduled in the afternoon or evening so as not to interfere with the client’s school schedule. Referrals for the early intervention programme are only accepted from the legal guardians of the child, but information and assistance is available for educators.
Please note: if you prefer, we offer Telehealth services, allowing your child to receive treatment from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
